THE HONEST COMPARISON

What each role is set up to do.

Night nannies, newborn care specialists and doulas do valuable work, and they serve a different role. This is not a ranking. It is a description of scope, so you can match the support you need to the role that carries it.

In Ontario, "nurse" is a protected title held through the College of Nurses. "Night nanny" and "newborn care specialist" are not regulated titles, so training and scope vary by individual. Doula certifications reflect real training in non-clinical support, and are not healthcare licences. Individual providers vary widely, so it is always worth asking any provider what regulated licence they hold and who oversees their care.

WITH ANYONE ELSE

They comfort your baby, change diapers and wake you. In the morning you're googling photos of rashes, calling clinics, and probably spending your afternoon in a waiting room, or the emergency department.

Your Licensed Nurse assesses hydration and the rash overnight, and flags it to our Nurse Practitioner, who does a virtual assessment and can call in a prescription, then makes the clinical call: manage at home, order follow-up, or go to emerg. You skip the guesswork entirely.

THE CLINICAL DIFFERENCE

What only a licence makes possible.

A real night, a real example: your baby develops diarrhea and a worsening rash. Here's what happens next in each home.

Our healthcare system is failing loudly:

is closing the gap quietly, before the crisis.

SIX REASONS FAMILIES CHOOSE US

The standard, spelled out.

01

A licence, not a label

“Newborn specialist” is a marketing term. Licensed Nurse is a regulated one, backed by the College of Nurses of Ontario. We only send the latter.

02

Hospital-calibre eyes

Our nurses come from NICU and pediatric units, trained to notice the early changes an exhausted parent is not expected to catch.

03

An NP behind every case

Our Medical Director reviews every plan and can assess, advise and prescribe by video, so a clinical concern at 3am has somewhere to go. That escalation path is what a regulated service adds.

04

Care for both of you

The same shift that watches your baby monitors your recovery, incision, bleeding, latch, mood. A well baby and a depleted parent isn't success.

05

Fewer waiting rooms

Problems get caught at home, while they're small. Assessment, guidance and prescriptions happen before a crisis, not in emerg after one.

06

Someone stands behind us

Regulation, insurance, documentation and physician partnerships. When you let someone into your home at 2am, accountability is everything.

FAMILIES WE'VE CARED FOR

The difference, in their words.

Reviews left by families we have cared for.

“We had previously looked into doulas but decided to try SuperNurse and I'm really glad we did. Having someone with a medical background overnight made a huge difference for us.”
